Read More...The Peace and Friendship Conference held in Istanbul on 18 April 2015 attended by many hundreds of Rotarians and the resultant Peace Declaration were the catalyst for this project. Details of the “Peace is Possible” project are in the attached document and will involve Rotarians from Australia, New Zealand and Turkey undertaking a two and a half weeks long joint program.

Fifty-five applications were received from young people to join the District sponsored Team to attend the Hiroshima Peace Forum on 17-19 May. It was a superb District effort with 29 Clubs involved in recruiting candidates. Applications were reviewed to produce a short list of 14 who were interviewed by a panel of four.

Read More...Members of the Brighton North Rotary Club were privileged to have recently as their guests at their meeting the team leader and three members of the first Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from District 9800 (then D280) that travelled to Canada for ten weeks in 1966.
The guest speaker for the meeting was team leader John Nathan, a former member of the Rotary Club of Melbourne for 35 years, who arranged for three of his team to also attend to share their experiences with the audience.

"Pakistan this year has perhaps the best chance ever to achieve success, because tremendous new efforts are being undertaken, led by the government, in implementing a national polio emergency action plan that mobilized all government and civil society resources," says Robert S. Scott, chair of Rotary’s International PolioPlus Committee, about progress in Pakistan.
"There is strong evidence that implementation of the emergency plan is showing results, particularly in key reservoir areas such as Balochistan and Sindh."
